It's Saturday morning! What time are you up and what do you want to do with the day?
The best Saturday would be waking up at 11am, biking to prospect park and having a picnic by the lake. Afterwards, I’d bike around the park and then head over to Nitehawk if there’s an interesting film being shown.
Have you ever had an existential crisis? How did it come about and what was your ultimate takeaway from it?
I think I had a very intense crisis once when I was watching a zombie movie and I started thinking about the inevitability of death and I started to feel so trapped and anxious. Ultimately I’ve walked away understanding that there’s nothing I can do about having to die but that I should appreciate every day that I’m alive as best as I can. It’s hard to remember but I certainly do try.
You are at a party and a topic comes up that you could go on and on and on about that nobody else knows anything about. What is the topic and would you talk about it or not talk about it?
Eastern European history and culture.
What do you think about feminism? How did you come to that conclusion?
Feminism was my first introduction to politics when I was 15 years old. I had gotten exhausted over being cat called every day on my walk to school and started to look into why women are objectified. I don’t think there is succinct way to put my feelings about feminism within 300 words but I can assure you that I consider myself a Marxist feminist.
If there was an alternate reality in which you had a debilitating, life-altering addiction, what would you be addicted to?
Probably cocaine
What are your dreams?
I’ve had so many overtime and of course they’ve changed. When I was a teenager I so desperately wanted to rule the world. I would say my only dream right now is to see the working class unite against the bourgeoisie.
Do you believe in ethical consumerism or is it a drop in a giant well that has already been dug by multinational corporations so it doesn't matter?
I don’t believe that ethical consumerism really exists because exploitation is imbedded in our economic system, However one should do their best to consume in ways that they would feel proud of. For example I know that being a vegetarian does not stop animal exploitation, however I still cannot bring myself to buy consume meat.
