Open Questions

Why are you filling out this questionnaire?

I have lived in New York for the past year, and I think it is a magical place to meet people. I also really love 8ball and think you sound like a cool person to meet!

How many "close friends" (by close friends I mean people that you see more than twice a month if they live in the tri-state area or if they are a long-distance friend that you speak with at least twice a month) do you have?

Id say around 5

Do you listen to Billie Eilish? If so, why?

I don’t! Don’t have anything against her music though. I just end up listening to a lot of other stuff.

It's Saturday morning! What time are you up and what do you want to do with the day?

Usually 1p haha. I’d want to go thrifting or go on a walk through a park and grab dinner before going out for the night.

Have you ever had an existential crisis? How did it come about and what was your ultimate takeaway from it?

I had psychosis for a few months early 2022 from drug use and anxiety. That time was really weird and I learned a lot about myself and I took last summer to recover with family and get a better grip on reality and a lot of that had to do with my relationship with sobriety. Main Takeaway was that the brain is more fragile than I thought, and my resolve is also stronger than I imagined.

You are at a party and a topic comes up that you could go on and on and on about that nobody else knows anything about. What is the topic and would you talk about it or not talk about it?

Theology! I grew up in a very conservative evangelical background, and I stepped away from that. I’m really passionate about talking about religion, core beliefs, and the afterlife. Spirituality is a really fun topic to me.

What do you think about feminism? How did you come to that conclusion?

I think we’re in a really interesting era for feminism where the Internet is so polarizing and is helping us step forward and backwards at the same time. I don’t subscribe fully to TikTok feminism, but I value community support and what we can do for the women in our lives.

If there was an alternate reality in which you had a debilitating, life-altering addiction, what would you be addicted to?

Male validation. For a while I really believe that I had pick-me tendencies. The past few years that I have been working really hard to dive into why that is and how to break that need inside of me.

What are your dreams?

I have really funky night dreams. A lot of them have to do with adventure and strange industrial locations and video game objectives. I get a lot of creative inspiration from my dreams

Do you believe in ethical consumerism or is it a drop in a giant well that has already been dug by multinational corporations so it doesn't matter?

I think it’s good to put your money in things you believe in, but I also understand if people cannot afford to do that. Most of today’s capitalistic nightmares are done by corporations and not individuals, but if you can afford things that are created in a healthier way you should buy them.

Essay Question

Please describe a friend breakup you have gone through. If you haven't gone through a friend breakup, please explain why you think you have never gone through a friend breakup. Outline a major friendship in your life and explain why it is successful.

I lived with my best friend for two years during the pandemic. We shared a studio apartment where our beds were across the room from each other. I think that tight proximity forced us to be closer than we needed to be, and when she finally moved out, we parted ways more than I hoped.
